Turkish stocks hit new record at Monday's close

BIST 100 gains 15 points to hit record high close of 2,510.31 points

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index on Monday went up 0.64% to hit a new record high close of 2,510.31 points.

After starting the day at 2,502.97 points, the BIST 100 index rose 15.94 points from Friday's close of 2,494.37 points.

Closing the day with a market value of around 2 trillion Turkish liras (nearly $140 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 47 billion Turkish liras ($3.2 billion).

During Monday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 2,490.57 and 2,515.35 points – 68 stocks on the index rose, 32 fell, and the remainder were flat compared to the previous close.

Shares of flagship carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and defense giant Aselsan posted the highest trading volumes on Monday.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,994.00 by market close, up from $1,973.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil fell to $113.36 per barrel as of 7 p.m. local time (1600GMT) on Monday, up 1.49% from the previous close.
