Turkish stocks looking down at Thursday's open

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index loses 1.37 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1, 412.17 points on Thursday, down 0.10% or 1.37 points from the previous close.

At the midweek's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.23% to 1,413.54 points, with a daily trading volume of 19.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 9.1800 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 9.1040 on Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 10.6580, up from 10.5260, while one British pound traded for 12.5700 Turkish liras, up from 12.4470.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $81.17 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).

Meanwhile, a new Turkish Central Bank deputy governor and a new member to the bank's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) were appointed, while two deputy governors and one MPC member got dismissed.

Deputy governors Semih Tumen and Ugur Namik Kucuk and MPC member Abdullah Yavas were dismissed, said the decree issued via the Official Gazette.
