Turkish stocks looking up at midweek open

BIST 100 index gains over 9 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,553.41 points on Wednesday, a rise of 0.61% or 9.36 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.60% to close Tuesday at 1,544.05 points, with a daily trading volume of 32 billion Turkish liras ($4.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.0800 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) from 7.0900 at the previous close.

While the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 8.5900 versus 8.5820, one British pound traded for 9.8100 Turkish liras, up from 9.7950 at Tuesday’s close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $60.98 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
