Turkish stocks looking up at midweek open

BIST 100 index increases over 6 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 2,212.78 points on Wednesday, up 6.28, or 0.28%, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1.57% to close on Tuesday at 2,206.50 points, with a daily trading volume of 41.42 billion Turkish liras ($2.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate slightly rose to 14.6491 as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT), from 14.6450 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate increased to 16.2914 from 16.2720, while a British pound traded for 19.2281 liras, down from 19.2880 at the last close.

Brent crude oil sold for around $109.91 per barrel as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT).
