Turkish stocks looking up at Monday opening

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rises over 11 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened the week at 1,484.95 points on Monday, up by 0.78% or 11.50 points from the previous close.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index slipped 1.66% to close the week at 1,473.45 points with volume of 30.2 billion liras ($4.1 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.2700 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), down from 7.2950 compared to Friday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 8.8300, versus 8.8660, and one British pound traded for 10.0000 Turkish liras, compared to 10.0260 at the last close.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $55.46 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
