Turkish stocks looking up at Thursday's open

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gains over 13 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,385.05 points on Thursday, up 0.97% or 13.36 points from the previous close.

At the midweek's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 1.43% to 1,371.69 points, with a daily trading volume of over 15.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.77 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 8.8720 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 8.8900 on Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 10.2710, up from 10.2660, while one British pound traded for 12.0590 Turkish liras, down from 12.1280.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $80.86 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
