Turkish stocks looking up at Tuesday opening

BIST 100 index gains 3.65 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,538.56 points on Tuesday, rising 0.24% or 3.65 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index rose 0.51% to close at 1,534.91 points on Monday, with a daily trading volume of 35.1 billion Turkish liras (nearly $5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 7.0700 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), down from 7.0900.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.5500 from 8.5340, while one British pound traded for 9.7500, versus 9.7300.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $61.20 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
