ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index was up 0.25%, or 278.49 points, to start Thursday at 110,835.16 points.
On Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 0.45% to 110,574.68 points with a daily trading volume of 8.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.9250 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, compared to 5.9130 at Wednesday's close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 6.5990, versus 6.5770, and one British pound traded for 7.7720 Turkish liras, while it was 7.7550 at the previous close.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $66.25 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
