ANKARA (AA) – The Borsa Istanbul index rose 0.13 percent to open at 77,326.61 points on Tuesday.
On the second trading day of the week, all subindexes of the BIST 100 were higher compared to Monday's close, with the mining sector leading the surge with a 0.81 percent hike.
On Monday, the BIST-100 closed almost 1 percent higher at 77,225 on Monday, due mainly to the 1.4 percent rise in the banking sector index, due principally to better-than-expected inflation data from last month.
Turkish markets will continue to monitor crude oil prices and developments regarding German lender Deutsche Bank.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate, which was at 3.0185 by the time markets closed at 5.30 p.m. (1430 GMT) Monday, edged up 0.34 percent to 3.0288 at the open 9.30 a.m. (0630 GMT) Tuesday.
