ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started midweek down 0.28%, or 287.26 points, to open at 102,146.54 points.
On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell by 1.10% to close the day at 101,859.28 points with a daily trading volume of 12.4 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.8290 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to 5.8000 at Tuesday's close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.3890, versus 6.3670, and one British pound traded for 7.1310 Turkish liras, up from 7.0970.
One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $58.14 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
