Turkish stocks starts week on low note

BIST 100 index falls 555 points versus last week's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index fell 0.46%, or 555.76 points, to start the week at 120,459.39 points on Monday.

At Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index slipped 1.04% to 121,015.14 points with a daily trading volume of 11.36 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.0120 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, versus 5.9950 at last week's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.5870, versus 6.5650, and one British pound traded for 7.7770 Turkish liras, while it was 7.7660 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $54.57 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
