Turkish stocks up 1.16% at Friday's opening

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index starts day with gain of 1,301 points

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day at 113,795.70 points on Friday, up 1.16%, or 1,301.08 points, from the previous close.

At Thursday’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 1.40% at 112,494.62 points, with a daily trading volume of 20.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.95 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.8600 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, compared to 6.8580 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 7.6930 from 7.6970, and one British pound traded for 8.5560 Turkish liras, up from 8.5420 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $42 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
