Turkish stocks up at Friday opening

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index sees 2.67 points rise from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,315.69 points on Friday, a slight rise of 0.20% or 2.67 points from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 1.41% at 1,313.02 points, with a daily trading volume of 55.4 billion Turkish liras (nearly $7.3 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.5900 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.5970 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose slightly to 9.0220 from 8.9800, while one British pound traded for 10.1050 Turkish liras, up from 10.0750.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $44.2 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
