Turkish stocks up at open

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index opens 0.35 pct higher

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark index gained 269.03 points to open at 76,081.01 on Wednesday.

The BIST 100 index rose 0.35 percent while the banking and holding sector indexes advanced 0.41 and 0.32 percent respectively.

On the third day of the week, all sector indices were up at the opening session, with the insurance sector index rising the most, up 1.03 percent.

The Turkish lira was flat against the U.S. dollar to trade at 3.3710 early Wednesday, compared to Tuesday's closing rate of 3.3720.

Early Wednesday, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) released Turkey's housing sales figures for October, showing 130,274 properties changed hands. According to the TurkStat report, property sales rose 25.1 percent this October compared to the same month in 2015.
