ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark index gained 636.23 points to open at 74,999.68 on Monday.
The BIST 100 index rose 0.86 percent. The banking and holding sector indexes were up 1.02 and 0.69 percent respectively.
The textile and leather sector index saw the greatest increase -- up 1.49 percent -- while the securities investment trusts sector dropped 0.51 percent, the largest fall.
Turkey’s economic confidence index and the European Central Bank President Mario Draghi’s speech are the key events to follow Monday, analysts said.
The Turkish lira was higher against the U.S. dollar to trade at 3.4160 early Monday, compared to Friday's closing rate of 3.4590.
