ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day with a 104.38-point increase to open at 97,830.33 points on Tuesday.
On the second transaction day of the week, the BIST 100 index rose by 0.11 percent.
The banking and holding sector indices went up 0.10 percent and 0.17 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the sports index was the best performer with a 0.70-percent rise while the stone-earth index started the day with the biggest decline, falling by 0.30 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate advanced to 3.5830 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Tuesday, compared with 3.5750 at Monday’s close.
The BIST 100 was up 192.68 points or 0.20 percent to reach 97,725.95 points at the close of trade on Monday, with a total trading volume of 3 billion Turkish liras (approximately $838.4 million).
