Turkish stocks up at open

Index gains over 0.36% versus previous close; Turkish lira gains ground against other currencies

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 103,058.70 points, up 0.36% or 372.59 points.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 0.66% to close the day at 102,686.11 points with a daily trading volume of 6.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.2 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.5390 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, down from 5.5650 on Friday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 6.1850, versus 6.2030, and one British pound traded for 6.7580 Turkish liras, compared to 6.7780 at Tuesday's close.

One barrel of Brent oil sold for $65.14 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
