Turkish stocks up at Tuesday open

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rises nearly 370 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.33%, or 369.51 points, to start Tuesday at 111,495.02 points.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index hit 111,125.51 points at close, up 0.59% with a daily trading volume of 9.65 billion Turkish liras ($1.65 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.8540 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, compared to 5.8520 at Monday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.5269, versus 6.5280, and one British pound traded for 7.7900 Turkish liras, while it was 7.8180 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $65.38 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
