Turkish stocks up at Tuesday's open

BIST 100 index gains over 3 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,424.27 points on Tuesday, rising 0.22% or 3.12 points from the previous close.

At Monday’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 1.67% at 1,421.15 points, with a daily trade volume of 15 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rose to 8.2800 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, from 8.2760 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 9.9700 from 9.9910, while one British pound traded for 11.5300 Turkish liras, down from 11.5510 at Monday’s close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $67.40 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
