ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Monday at 5,867.23 points, up by 1.88%, or 108.12 points, from the last week’s close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Tuesday at 5,759.11 points, up 0.46%, with a daily trading volume of 30 billion Turkish liras ($1.14 billion).
Borsa Istanbul traded one and half-day on Monday and Tuesday last week due to Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, a Muslim holiday.
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.0774 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.3939, and a British pound traded for 33.0661 Turkish liras.
Brent crude oil was selling for around $75.15 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,922.95.
