KOLN (AA) - One of three victims killed in a fire that broke out in a building in Germany was an 18-year-old Turkish national, the Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.
Authorities said the 18-year-old young man who was killed was Turkish citizen Ada Abay.
A statement by the Office said it was determined that gasoline was poured to accelerate the flames in the fire and explosion that broke out in a kiosk on the lower floor of a building in Dusseldorf, which also injured 16 others.
The body of the 48-year-old kiosk operator who died in the incident was also found, the statement added, without providing details about the nationalities of the victims.
It was noted that those killed were aged 18, 48 and 55.
Initial findings showed that Abay and a 55-year-old male died of smoke inhalation, and according to autopsy results, the kiosk operator died after the explosion.
Those injured in the fire are still being treated in hospitals and private clinics, while a seriously injured woman is still in life-threatening condition, said reports.
The fire broke out on the lower floor late Thursday and then engulfed the building.
Türkiye's Consul General in Dusseldorf, Ali Ihsan Izbul, paid a get-well-soon visit to Ismail Kiziltan, a resident of the building who was slightly injured in the fire.
