ANKARA (AA) - Turkish tenor will assume leading roles in the Verona opera festival, a summer performance under the antiquity of Italy.
Murat Karahan, the director general of Turkey’s state opera and ballet, told Anadolu Agency on Monday that he will be performing leading roles in four operas to be staged as part of the Arena Di Verona Opera Festival.
The festival will mark its 100th anniversary from June 21 to Sept. 7.
The antique Roman amphitheater, one of best preserved ones in the world, will host the outdoor performance.
Karahan will meet the audience 13 times during the festival with his leading roles in Il Trovatore, Carmen, Tosca and Aida operas.
The festival hosts the opera season each summer in the Arena Di Verona amphitheater -- the largest open-air opera house of the world with some 10,000 seats. It hosts nearly 500,000 spectators each season.
