ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Wednesday met with his Turkish Cypriot counterpart Tahsin Ertugruloglu in Ankara ahead of the extraordinary summit of leaders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
In a tweet, Cavusoglu said they discussed the preparations and the agenda of Thursday's extraordinary summit of OTS.
He recalled that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has joined the organization as an observer state.
"Turkish Cypriots are an integral part of the Turkic world," Cavusoglu said in his tweet.
Early Thursday, the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OTS will meet to carry out the final work on the agenda items to be discussed by the heads of state.
The OTS, formerly called the Turkic Council, is an international organization comprising prominent independent Turkic countries that work together to elevate relations and the union among themselves.
Its members are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan. EU country Hungary, Turkmenistan and the TRNC have observer status.
