ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkish warplanes hit late Friday 15 YPG/PKK terror targets in northern Syria, the National Defense Ministry said.
Many terrorists were "neutralized" during the aerial operation, the ministry said in a statement on X.
"A large number of terrorists were neutralized by using maximum amounts of domestic ammunition in the operations," it further said.
"In line with our right to self-defense arising from Article 5 of the UN Charter, we attacked terrorist targets in northern Syria on Oct. 06, 2023 at 10 p.m.," the ministry added.
The statement also said shelters, depots, and so-called bases used by the terrorist group were also destroyed.
Turkish authorities use the term "neutralize" to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.
