IZMIR, Türkiye (AA) – Türkiye rescued 87 irregular migrants in the Aegean Sea after Greek authorities pushed them back into Türkiye's territorial waters, the Turkish Coast Guard said Thursday.

Turkish teams saved the migrants from rubber boats off the Cesme, Urla and Seferihisar districts in Izmir province, it said in a statement on its website.

All of the migrants were transported to provincial migration offices.

Ankara and global rights groups have repeatedly condemned Greece’s illegal practice of pushing back asylum seekers, saying it violates humanitarian values and international law by endangering the lives of vulnerable migrants, including women and children.
