ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye’s central government budget saw a deficit of 32 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 billion) in January, according to data released by the Treasury and Finance Ministry on Wednesday.
The figure deteriorated from a surplus of 30 billion Turkish liras ($2.2 billion) in January 2022.
Budget revenues were at 289.1 billion liras ($15.4 billion) last year, while expenditures amounted to 321 billion liras ($17.1 billion).
Non-interest expenditures last year stood at 300 billion liras ($16 billion) and interest payments were at 21.4 billion liras ($1.1 billion).
Excluding interest payments, the budget balance posted a 10.9 billion liras ($579 million) deficit last month.
Tax revenues reached 252.8 billion liras ($13.5 billion) in the same period.
