TRIPOLI, Libya (AA) - Türkiye's Ambassador to Libya paid a farewell visit Sunday to Libya’s prime minister and the head of its Presidential Council following the completion of his term.

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh received Ambassador Kenan Yilmaz at the Prime Ministry building, the Libyan government said in a statement.

Dbeibeh noted Yilmaz's commencement of duty under difficult conditions and praised his outstanding efforts during his tenure as ambassador and his efforts in the development of relations between the two countries.

A statement from the Press Office of the Libyan Presidential Council said that Yilmaz visited Mohamed al-Menfi, the head of Libya’s Presidential Council, at its headquarters in the capital Tripoli to bid farewell.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on April 27 notified some people who will serve in Türkiye's foreign missions and as ambassadors of their new duties.

Accordingly, Ambassador Guven Begec was assigned as Türkiye's new Ambassador to Libya, replacing Yilmaz.
