Türkiye's BIST 100 index closes Tuesday in the red

Benchmark index plunges 180.58 points from Monday's record high closing

Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday at 8,994.00 points, falling 1.97% from the previous close.

Ending its 3-session of winning streak, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 lost 180.58 points from Monday's record closing high of 9,174.58.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 7.7 trillion liras ($250.3 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 151 billion liras ($4.91 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,006.50 while Brent crude oil sold for around $82.13 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 30.7299, the euro/lira exchange rate was at 32.9808, and the British pound traded at 38.6991 liras.
