ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday at 7,624.29 points, surging 2.06% from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 gained 154.11 points from Friday's close of 7,470.18.
On Monday, the stock market was closed due to New Year's holiday.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 6.5 trillion Turkish liras ($219.6 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 78 billion Turkish liras ($2.62 billion).
The price of an ounce of gold was $2,065.25, while Brent crude oil sold for around $77.32 per barrel as of 6.38 p.m. local time (1538GMT).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 29.7459, the euro/lira exchange rate was at 32.5846, and the British pound traded at 37.5421 Turkish liras.
