Türkiye's BIST 100 index closes Wednesday in red

Benchmark index plunges 212.25 points at midweek close

ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Wednesday at 7,412.04 points, diving 2.78% from the previous close.

After a three-session winning streak, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 lost 212.25 points from Tuesday's close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 6.3 trillion Turkish liras ($212.9 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 86 billion Turkish liras ($2.90 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,044.45, while Brent crude oil sold for around $77.97 per barrel as of 6.24 p.m. local time (1524GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 29.7737, the euro/lira exchange rate was at 32.4930, and the British pound traded at 37.6292 Turkish liras.
