Türkiye's BIST 100 index down at close

Benchmark index drops over 70 points on Thursday

ISTANBUL (AA) — Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Thursday at 8,259.27 points, down by 0.86% from the previous close.

Starting the fourth transaction day of the week at 8,440.54 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 71.37 points from the midweek's close.

The index's lowest value during the day was 8,054.64, while its daily high was 8,471.11.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 7.1 trillion Turkish liras ($257.2 billion), with a daily trading volume of 158 billion liras ($5.68 billion).

During the day, 30 stocks on the index rose and 69 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,883.65, while Brent crude oil sold for around $86.60 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.7500 and the euro/lira exchange rate was 29.3365, while a British pound traded for 34.8880 liras.
