Türkiye's BIST 100 index ends Monday in red

Benchmark index drops 178.7 points on week's 1st transaction day

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Monday at 7,934.56 points, down 2.2% from the previous close.

Starting the new week at 8,242.29 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 178.74 points from Friday's close.

The index's lowest value during the day was 7,926.64, while its daily high was 8,252.32.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 6.8 trillion Turkish liras ($245.7 billion), with a daily trading volume of 116 billion liras ($4.15 billion).

During the day, 15 stocks on the index rose and 85 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,934.75, while Brent crude oil sold for around $89.85 per barrel as of 6.35 p.m. local time (1535GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.8810 and the euro/lira exchange rate was 29.4345, while a British pound traded for 33.9990 liras.
