ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Monday at 7,941.73 points, soaring 2.92% from the previous close.
After starting the week at 7,837.20 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 225.06 points from last week's close.
The lowest value of the index during the day was 7,837.07, while its daily high was 8,008.78 – the first time the index surged past the 8,000 level.
The market value of the BIST 100 was around 6.7 trillion Turkish liras ($253.8 billion) by market close.
The daily trading volume was 174 billion Turkish liras ($6.55 billion).
Some 76 stocks gained value, while 23 declined.
The price of an ounce of gold was $1,948.35, while Brent crude oil sold for $84.15 per barrel as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.5630, the euro/lira exchange rate was 28.7030, and the British pound traded at 33.4260 Turkish liras.
