ANTALYA, Turkiye (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday at 2,206.50 points, up sharply by 1.57% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 2,181.76 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 34.02 points from Monday's close of 2,172.48 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 2,181.76 points, while its daily high was 2,220.49.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.78 trillion Turkish liras ($120.8 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 41.42 billion Turkish liras ($2.8 billion).
During the second transaction day of the week, 64 stocks on the index rose, 34 fell, and two were unchanged compared to the previous close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, glass manufacturer Sisecam, and automotive firm Karsan.
Beer producer Anadolu Efes was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while stocks of energy firm Odas suffered the steepest drop of 8.89%.
The price of an ounce of gold was $1,911.7, while Brent crude oil was at roughly $106.7 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
