ANKARA (AA) – The Turkish central government’s gross debt stock totaled 3.67 trillion liras ($198.6 billion) at the end of September, according to official figures released on Thursday.
The figure was 2.2 trillion liras ($245.9 billion) in September 2021.
The gross debt stock includes outstanding debt of public sector institutions, the Central Bank, private companies, and households.
Some 34% of the debt stock is denominated in Turkish liras, while the rest is in foreign currency.
While 1.7 trillion liras ($94 billion) of the debt was domestic, nearly 1.9 trillion liras ($104.7 billion) was external, according to the Treasury and Finance Ministry’s data.
As of Sept. 30, the stock of Treasury receivables totaled 20.5 billion liras ($1.1 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was around 18.50 at the end of September.
