ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's current account balance posted a $5.91 billion deficit in December 2022, according to data from the Turkish Central Bank on Monday

It was up from a downwardly revised deficit of $3.17 billion in December 2021 and $4.05 billion in November 2022, the data showed.

According to an Anadolu survey last week, economists projected the current account gap would come in at $5 billion.

The country's gold- and energy-excluded current account saw a surplus of $3.53 billion in the month.

While the goods deficit totaled $8.09 billion, the services registered a net surplus of $2.5 billion in December.

In 2022, the current account deficit reached $48.77 billion, widened from a $7.23 billion gap in 2021.
