ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's external assets totaled $324.5 billion as of the end of January, decreasing by 1.1% versus the end of 2023, Türkiye's Central Bank revealed on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, liabilities against non-residents amounted to $624.5 billion, up by 1.9%, over the same period, the bank noted.
The net international investment position -- assets minus liabilities -- posted minus $300 billion at the end of January, enlarging from minus $284.7 billion at the end of last year.
Reserve assets recorded $133.9 billion indicating a decrease of 5%, while other investments recorded $125.5 billion, an increase of 2.7% compared to the end of 2023.
Portfolio investment increased by 4.7% and recorded $100.4 billion compared to the end of 2023.
Non-residents’ equity holdings recorded $33.1 billion, reflecting an increase of 12% compared to the end of last year.
The total external loan stock of the banks recorded $63.7 billion, increasing by 0.7% compared to the end of 2023, and the total external loan stock of the other sectors recorded $98.3 billion, decreasing by 2.1%.
