ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's gross external debt stock reached $441 billion, or more than half of its gross domestic product – 54.9% – at the end of 2021, official figures showed on Thursday.
The country's net external debt stock totaled $221 billion as of Dec. 31, the Treasury and Finance Ministry said in a statement.
The net foreign debt accounted for 27.5% of GDP.
It also said loans under Treasury guarantee stood at $14.7 billion during the same period.
It added that EU-defined general government debt stock was some $227.4 billion, or 42% of GDP, as of the end of last year.
