ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye’s benchmark stock index closed at a new all-time high of 3,402.81 points on Wednesday.
After starting the day at 3,404.1 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index rose 11.43 points, or 0.34%, from Tuesday’s close.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 3,338.13 points, while its daily high was 3,424.37, with a daily trading volume of 99.4 billion Turkish liras ($5.4 billion).
An ounce of gold traded for $1,695 by market close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Market.
The price of Brent crude oil fell to $89.30 per barrel as of 6.40 p.m. local time (1640GMT), down 3.8% as fears of a global economic recession and ongoing lockdowns in China weighed on market sentiment, heightening demand concerns.
