Türkiye's stock exchange ends week at record high

BIST 100 index surges 2.44% points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index rallied 2.44% to another all-time high close of 3,521.38 points on Friday.

After starting the day at 3,465.10 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 83.97 points from Thursday's close of 3,437.41 points.

On a weekly basis, the BIST 100 index rose nearly 9.3% this week.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 2.8 trillion Turkish liras ($155.5 billion) by close, with a daily trading volume of 100 billion liras ($5.5 billion).

One ounce of gold traded at $1,732.00 by market close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was at $91.74 per barrel as of 6.38 p.m. local time (1538GMT), up 2.91% over recent supply uncertainties due to a more aggressive energy war between the EU and Russia, as well as rising demand concerns amid lockdowns in China.
