ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye’s road motor vehicle registrations surged 77.2% year-on-year in June, according to data released on Friday.
A total of 193,688 first- and second-hand vehicles were registered last month, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) data showed.
On a monthly basis, the figure fell 13.4% from May.
As of the end of June, there were nearly 27.5 million motor vehicles registered in Türkiye.
Motorcycles accounted for most new registrations – 46.1% – last month, followed by passenger cars at 39.1% and small trucks with 8.4%, TurkStat data showed.
In terms of brands, Fiat led the pack with 14.7%, followed by Renault with 11.7%, Opel 9%, Volkswagen 7.3%, and Peugeot 6.1%.
In the January-June period, the number of registered vehicles in Türkiye soared 81.9% from a year earlier to exceed 1 million.
