ANKARA (AA) - Turkmenistan Embassy in the Turkish capital Ankara marked World Bicycle Day with hundreds of participants on Friday.
In a speech at scenic Lake Eymir, Ambassador Amanlyev Ishanguly World Bicycle Day was declared by the UN as a result of Turkmenistan's initiatives in 2018.
Amanlyev noted that cycle tours were organized in Turkmenistan for the day's occasion, with thousands of people participating. He stated that the embassy also organized cycle tours in Ankara every year.
Hundreds of people participated in the event, World Health Organization Türkiye representatives, Turkmen students studying in Ankara and many guests cycled for 12 kilometers (7.4 miles).
Amanlyev stated that his country had invested heavily in sports activities in recent years.
After the cycling tour, the participants were served local dishes of Turkmenistan.
