ANKARA (AA) - The European football governing body has launched a disciplinary investigation against Austria's Marko Arnautovic for his alleged racist remarks toward North Macedonia's Ezgjan Alioski in a Euro 2020 group match on Sunday.
According to a UEFA statement on Tuesday, an ethics and disciplinary inspector has been appointed in this regard.
After scoring a goal that brought his team a 3-1 victory in the Austria vs North Macedonia match, Serbian-origin Arnautovic turned to Albania-born Alioski and allegedly passed a racist slur.
He also made some hand gestures while celebrating but stopped after being restrained by captain David Alaba.
