LONDON (AA) – The UK on Tuesday expressed concern over a recent Israeli conference held in Jerusalem that advocated for the resettlement of Gaza.
"The UK is alarmed by the conference in Jerusalem calling for the resettlement of Gaza, and that Israeli ministers participated," according to a statement by the UK government.
"The UK’s position is clear: Gaza is occupied Palestinian territory and will be part of the future Palestinian state," it said.
"Settlements are illegal. No Palestinian should be threatened with forcible displacement or relocation," it added.
Israeli settlers held a conference Sunday about the resettlement of the Gaza Strip and the construction of more settlements in the occupied West Bank. The participants called for the building of new Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories in response to the Oct. 7 attack by Gaza-based resistance group Hamas.
Several members of Israel's government attended the conference.
