LONDON (AA) - UK Defense Secretary John Healey will visit Türkiye and Saudi Arabia for meetings to reinforce defense partnerships and advance regional stability in the Middle East, according to a statement Thursday.

Healey will work with counterparts to deepen bilateral defense cooperation, focusing on shared security priorities, enhancing defense industry collaboration and supporting diplomatic efforts to de-escalate rising tensions, it said.

In Ankara, Healey will meet Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler, where the two are expected to reaffirm commitments to expanded defense collaboration.

Talks will include structured dialogue around defense industry cooperation, with the potential for joint procurement initiatives and export ventures.

The UK seeks to foster a robust framework for mutual growth and increased regional security by strengthening defense ties with Türkiye.

"During his meetings in Ankara and Riyadh, John Healey will reaffirm the UK’s commitment to global security and securing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon," according to the statement.

Healey’s visit to Riyadh will be his first official engagement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in his current capacity.

"Deepening our defence relationships with key partners across the region will help the UK to support regional stability and economic growth at home," said Healey. "This government is determined to work with our partners across the Middle East to boost military cooperation and help lead a renewed push for peace."
