ANKARA (AA) - Industrial production in the UK increased 0.2% on a monthly basis in September, beating market forecasts, according to official data on Friday.
The figure bounced back from August's downwardly revised 1.4% contraction, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) data showed.
The market estimate was a 0.2% decline in September's reading which posted growth for the first time since May.
"The monthly rise in output resulted from strength in three of the four production sectors, with electricity and gas growing by 1.5%, mining and quarrying by 0.7%, and water supply and sewerage by 0.3%, while manufacturing remained flat," the ONS said.
