Unemployment rate falls to 3.5% in 3 months

ANKARA (AA) - The UK unemployment rate fell to 3.5% in the June-August period, a new low since 1974, according to data released by the Office for National Statistics on Tuesday.

The figure was down 0.3 percentage points in the quarter compared to the previous three-month period.

Meanwhile, the employment rate for June to August 2022 was 75.5%, 0.3 percentage points lower than the previous quarter (March to May 2022).

This was down 0.1 percentage point from the pre-pandemic level.

The number of employed people slipped by 109,000 during the same period.

In September, the UK economy added 69,000 jobs, with payroll employees reaching a record 29.7 million.
