ISTANBUL (AA) - The retail sales volume in the UK rose 1% on a monthly basis in August, after an increase of 0.7% in July.
According to the Office for National Statistics, supermarkets and clothing retailers saw a boost thanks to warmer weather and end-of-season sales.
"More broadly, sales volumes rose 1.2% in the three months to August 2024, when compared with the three months to May 2024," it said.
Compared to their pre-pandemic level in February 2020, volumes were still down 0.4% in the country as of August.
British food stores sale volumes climbed 1.8% in August 2024, following a rise of 0.3% in July 2024.
