LONDON (AA) - Britain will hold a general election on July 4, according to media reports on Wednesday.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will be calling a general election to be held on July 4, Sky News reported.

It came amid a Cabinet meeting, chaired by Sunak in Downing Street.

Early Wednesday, it was reported that Foreign Secretary David Cameron reportedly cut short his Albania visit to "attend a meeting in London," while Defense Secretary Grant Shapps also delayed an overseas trip to attend the Cabinet, according to BBC.

Separately, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt also canceled an appearance on ITV this evening, and Home Office ministers' diaries are "being cleared," added the reports.
