ANKARA (AA) – The UK unemployment rate fell below its pre-pandemic level for the first time in November 2021-January 2022, according to data released by the Office for National Statistics on Tuesday.
The figure decreased to 3.9% in November 2021-January 2022, down 0.2 percentage points on the quarter compared to the previous three-month period, the data showed.
The UK employment rate increased by 0.1 percentage points from August-October 2021 to 75.6% in November 2021-January 2022. This was down 0.1 percentage point from the pre-pandemic level.
The number of employed people slipped 12,000 during the same period.
The average total pay, including bonuses, rose 4.8% while the growth in regular pay, excluding bonuses, was 3.8% among employees from November 2021 to January 2022.
In February, the UK economy added 275,000 jobs, with payroll employees reaching a record 29.7 million.
